New task force raised

Statement by the Minister for the Army, ' Dr. the Hon. A.J. Forbes

. The raising of Headquarters, 1st Task Force, tou-· ·

command Regular Army field force units in the Ingleburn-Holsworthy area of New South Wales was announced today.

The Minister for the Army, Dr. A.J. Forbes, said

the 1st Task Force would be commanded by Brigadier Douglas 'V '

Vincent who would relinquish his present appointment as

Deputy Commander, .1st Division. - X Brigadier Vincent, a graduate of the Imperial

Defence College (UIC), Was formerly Commander, Australian

Army Force, Far East Land Forces, Singapore.

From August 9> the new task force hea.dquarters "

would command the following units in the Ingleburn-H olswor thy

area: ■

• . 1st Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery

, . 5th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment '


. 1st Field Squadron, Royal Australian Engineers .

. 131st Divisional Locating Battery, Royal Australian Artillery _

. 20th Field Park Squadron, Royal Australian Engineers

. 1st Company, Royal Australian Army Service Corps .

. 1st Divisional Ordnance Company, Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps ·

. 101st Infantry Workshop, Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers

. 1st Divisional Engineer Light Aid Detachment, RAEME ’ ·

. More than 2,000 officers and menoof these units

would be commanded by the Headquar ters ,' 1 st Task Force,

which would be located in the Holsworthy area»

The raising of this unit is in line with the

current Army reorganisation announced last December»
