Senator JANINE HAINES said that she is "tickled pink" with today’s NEWSPOLL which shows that she can comfortably win the suburban Adelaide seat of Kingston at the next Federal election, with 60Z of

the two-party preferred vote.

The NEWSPOLL in today’s Australian shows that Senator Haines would receive a massive A1Z of the vote, ahead of the Liberal and Labor candidates who were trailing badly on 30Z and 29Z respectively.

The poll also shows Senator Haines’ approval rating as Leader at

7 A Z - more than double that of her rivals (Hawke on 31Z &

Peacock on 29Z).

The Kingston NEWSPOLL comes only a day after a Bulletin MORGAN poll

was released-showing support for the Democrats in the House of Reps

at its highest level ever.

Commenting on the Kingston poll - the first by a professional

polling company to be publicly released - Senator Haines said:

"The success of our campaign so far is a victory for grassroots campaigning. The housewives, students & former Labor/Libera 1

supporters - who have all joined together as volunteers within

Kingston - share this mid-term victory." ยท

On Friday Senator Haines will be back campaigning in Kingston - with visits during the day to Lonsdale Heights Primary School and Braes Retirement Estate at Reynella. In the evening she will

address a public meeting at Brighton Town Hall on the Democrats Environment policies.
