SENATOR AMANDA VANSTONE SHADOW SPECIAL MINISTER OF STATE AND SPOKESPERSON ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN WOMEN'S AGENDA TAKES SECOND PLACE TO NSW ELECTION

The Prime Minister will be condemned by Australian women for using the forthcoming launch of the National Agenda for Women as a cheap political stunt.

Parliament has been sitting for two weeks and yet the Prime Minister chooses to ignore the Parliamentary forum and launch the Agenda in the NSW marginal seat of Waverly.

Even Labor women are appalled that the Prime Minister should turn the launch into a media event for NSW electioneering purposes.

The launch will be in the most marginal seat, Waverly, and I look forward to the Liberal candidate, Sally Betts, defeating the sitting Labor member, Mr Ernie Page.

It will be a suitable reflection on the Prime Minister's cheap election stunt when a Liberal woman wins the seat.
