RETURNED REFERENDUM BROCHURES AN IMPORTANT BASIS FOR

ELECTORAL ROLL CLEANSE

I have written to the Managing Director of Australia Post, and to the Electoral Commissioner, requesting that Australia Post expedite the return to the Electoral Commission of all unclaimed official Referendum brochures posted to voters so that these names can be advised to all Divisional Electoral Returning Officers before Saturday's voting.

The brochures returned as "address· unknown" or "no longer at this address" should provide an important base for "cleansing" the Electoral Rolls. .

Up-to-date clean rolls are an essential prerequisite of a fair system for both elections and referendums.
