HELP AT HAND FOR TANGNEY'S ELDERLY

The Canning Aged Persons' Trust Inc. has been congratulated, by Tangney' s Federal M.P., Peter Shack, for introducing a personal security system which can be rented by elderly people in the City of Canning.

"This is a tremendous service which will be a great boon to the many frail elderly people who live alone, or spend long periods of time on their own," Mr Shack said.

"The H.E.L.P. system unit can be used to activate an alarm should its user become ill, or have a fall.

"The Canning Aged Persons' Trust Inc. can arrange for these personal security systems to be installed and maintained for just 50 cents per week, or $26 a year, which is a very modest sum for such worthwhile protection.

"There are many frail elderly people who would benefit from the use of such an alarm system, and I am sure that they and their families would appreciate the peace of mind which such a device can give.

"I hope that other community organisations will follow suit and make these personal security systems more widely available," Mr Shack said.

Anyone interested in finding out more about the H.E.L.P. rental system should contact the Canning Aged Persons' Trust on 458 5176, or write to them at P.O. Box 574, Cannington, W.A., 6107.
