AT.P FACTIONS HIJACK AIRLINE PRIVATISATION; MOORK

The Labor committee set up to review funding options for our airlines is a complete farce," according to John Moore Opposition Spokesman for Privatisation.

"Although most committee members may be well known for their ALP number crunching and pre-eminence in union affairs - they are not qualified to objectively consider the balance sheet of Qantas and Australian Airlines.

"There's not one economic rationalist amongst them.

"Not one of the members has any particular expertise in running a large business enterprise. They are in no position to assess - funding requirements, prudent debt equity ratios or the various methods of raising cash in the market.

"Privatisation issue is dead and buried under this Government. We will have one time wasting committee after another without any resolution.

"No amount of window dressing will disguise the fact that the Prime Minister and the Treasurer have lost the battle and in the meantime our public enterprises will continue to wither.
