"WI L L E T T O N TO GET CHILD C A R E CE N T R E "

Some of the pressure for child care f a c i l i t i e s in Perth's r apidly e x p a n d i n g south eastern su b u r b s will be relieved when the City of C a n n i n g opens a new c o m m u n i t y child care centre at W i l l e t t o n in early 1986.

Mr Peter Shack, the Federal Mem b e r for T a n gney, said the. child care centre w ould prove to be a boon for T a n g n e y families w h i c h have a great need of such a facility.

"This new centre will provide for up to 40 c h i l d r e n r anging in age from 3 mon t h s to 6 years and o f f e r them day care on a full time or part time basis in m o d e r n well run s u r r o u n d i n g s , " Mr Shack said.

" P r o v i s i o n of this much needed a menity has been made p o s s i b l e through a joint a r r a n g e m e n t i n v o l v i n g the Federal and State G o v e r n m e n t s and the City of C a n n i n g , " he added.

"The level of comm u n i t y support for the c e n t r e was e vident at the public m e e t i n g held on 14 Aug u s t to d iscuss plans for its m a n a g e m e n t and to deter m i n e the types of s e r vices w h i c h are required," Mr Shack said.

"I am sorry that business in the E a s t e r n S t a t e s preve n t e d me from a t t e n d i n g this meeting," he said, "but I sent a r e p r e s e n t a t i v e along, and I was p l e a s e d to l earn that the m e e t i n g was well attended and that there was no shortage

of v o l u n t e e r s to make up the c e n t r e ' s I n t e r i m M a n a g e m e n t C o m m i t t e e ."

This C o m m i t t e e will hold its first m e e t i n g on 28 August to begin the task of d e t e r m i n i n g how the c e n t r e will o p e r a t e and to plan for the opening.
