Opposition Defence spokesman, Ian Sinclair, today accused the government of continuing its cover-up of the MX missile issue.

Mr Sinclair said that for the second consecutive day Prime Minister Hawke, Foreign Minister Hayden and Defence Minister Beazley had failed to give reasonable answers to Opposition questions. ,

"It is apparent that Hawke and Hayden knew about, endorsed and accepted the original proposals right from the start," Mr Sinclair said.

"These proposals were right for Australia, would have assisted the success of the Geneva Disarmament talks and were thrown to the winds because of Hawke's failure to stand up to the radicals in the Labor Party.

"Beazley has been drawn into their web of deceit which has damaged Australia in the eyes of the world.

"The 1 terrible trio' are sticking together in their game- play of defending Hawke's hide from the Left-wing.

"The closer they stick together, the more the stench of a cover-up sweeps through Parliament.

"The government has taken our relationship with America to the brink.

"All Australians deserve to know why."
