Leader of the Opposition

NEWS RELEASE BY JOHN HOWARD MP L19/85

Opposition Will Not Attend Uluru Ceremony

The Opposition will not be represented at the ceremony for the handover of the title of the Uluru National Park.

Ayers Rock is a national asset that belongs to all Australians. As such, it should not be handed over to a section of the Australian population.

The Coalition policy on Ayers Rock is well known. In view of this, it is not appropriate for the Opposition to attend the handover ceremony on 26 October.
