VISIT TO JAPAN AND NORTH AMERICA - 2-17 FEBRUARY 1985

John Howard departed Sydney yesterday to visit Japan and the United States of America for discussions on the Japanese and u.s. economies, disarmament and taxation. He will be calling on the following people during his visit:

Japan 3-7 February

The Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Moriyama and the Administrative Vice-Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Yanagiya The Vice-Minister for International Affairs in the Finance Ministry, Mr. Oba Officers of the Economic Planning Agency and MITI

The President of the Bank of Tokyo, Mr. Watanabe The Chairman of the Industrial Bank of Japan, Mr. Ikeura The Executive Vice-President of Nomura Securities, Mr. Tabuchi Officers of the Central Bank and the Sumitomo Bank

Mr, Howard will also be meeting Australian journalists whilst in Tokyo.

The Republican National Committee The Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, Mr. Paul Volcker The Under-Secretary for Monetary Affairs in the Treasury,

Dr. Beryl Sprinkel The Director of Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, Mr. Ken Adelman or his Deputy The President of the American Enterprise Institute for Public

Policy and Research, Mr. William Baroody Jnr. A Parliamentary Committee on taxation Executives from Salomon Brothers, Bank of America, Citicorp, Goldman Sachs, Chase Manhattan, Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch
