Th i s b r o u g h t t o more t han 3900 t he t o t a l number o f j o b s appr oved

so f a r i n WA under CEP. Thi s f i g u r e c o mp r i s e s j o b s appr oved

f o r p r o j e c t s s pons or ed by S t a t e a.nd Local Gover nment a u t h o r i t i e s ,

c o mmu n i t y o r g a n i s a t i o n s 'and F e d e r a l Gover nment a g e n c i e s .

The M i n i s t e r s ' s a i d t he new p r o j e c t s i n v o l v e d F e d e r a l f u n d s

o f j u s t o v e r $16 m i l l i o n w i t h t he r e m a i n d e r p r o v i d e d by s p o n s o r i n g

. Five jobs, 52 weeks - Research into neuromuscular disease;

The Neuromuscular Research I n s t i t u t e ; ($76,845 Federal grant) .

. Three jo b s , 52 weeks - Provision of an asbestos disease

advisory service fo r v ic tim s and t h e ir fa m ilie s ; Asbestos

Disease Society (WA) ; ($84,677 Federal g r a n t ) .

. Eight jobs, 23 weeks - The A n t i -Smoking Show, a l i v e production

designed to promote non-smoking behaviour; Theatre of D iffe re n ce ;

($74,081 Federal g r a n t ) .

. Four jobs, 17 weeks - F e a s i b i l i t y study fo r a new charter

terminal at Perth A i r p o r t ; Association fo r the Employment

of Disabled Persons; ($27,251 Federal grant).

D e ta ils of some of the other pro je cts have already been announced

l o c a l l y . These include:

. 55 jobs fo r up to 52 weeks - Development of Whaleworld complex

at Albany; Jaycees Community Foundation Whaleworld Inc;

($592,965 Federal g r a n t ) .

. 32 jobs fo r up to 40 weeks - Research of Old Post O ffice ;

Albany Town Council ; ($196,201 Federal g r a n t ) .

. One job for 52 weeks - C le ric a l Assistant fo r Professional

S t a f f ; Nu1 sen Haven Association Inc; ($1 7,94 7 Federal g r a n t ) .

Jobs would la s t fo r between three months and one year and would

go to the disadvantaged unemployed - those out of work for

longer periods, the disabled, Aborigines and migrants with

language d i f f i c u l t i e s .
