PRESS RELEASE BY THE SHADOW MINISTER OF STATE, MR STEELE HALL, M.P. '

MINISTER BREAKS MORE PROMISES

The Special Minister of State is running wild on political missions breaking yet' more promises solomly made before the election.

On the 14th February, Senator Button, now Minister for Industry and Commerce, said that a Labor Government would "wind down the Government Information Unit".

Now with no sustainable reason, in a move which should not be made at all if the stock "budget deficit" the Hawke Government excuse is used the Minister is filling positions in a revamped GIU called the National Media Liaison Service.

' Mr Young has frightened the wits out of most Australians by calling for wealth taxes because of a poor Budget position - yet he is now throwing money around like a drunken sailor on a media unit which his colleagues said would be wound down.

The Special Minister of State seems to operate outside any rules which suit the Australian community, and certainly outside of any effective discipline by the Prime Minister.
