BUDGET MEDIA RELEASE 7 '

INCREASED PROCESSING FEE FOR EMPLOYER NOMINATIONS

The fee for processing applications in the Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) is to be increased, the Minister for Immigration, Local Government and Ethnic Affairs, Mr . Gerry Hand, announced today.

The increased fee is an additional $150 over the present $100 nomination fee.

"As part of the Government's user-pays approach, the Department of Employment, Education and Training (DEBT) is introducing a fee to meet the cost of its involvement in processing ENS cases," the Minister said.

"DEBT advises my Department on labour market matters for each nomination, including the employer's training record and the employer's efforts to fill the highly skilled vacancy within Australia.

"The increased fee will offset DEBT's new charges."

Implementation details of the new scheme will be finalised in consultation with DEBT.
