KEATING WILL LET COALITION PLAN THROUGH *

Mr Keating today in the Parliament conceded the strength of the Coalition's new plan for changing Australia by announcing that when that plan is voted on by the Australian public at the next election, and supported, that the Labor Party will support the new Coalition Government's legislation, the Shadow Minister for

Industry and Commerce, Ian McLachlan, said today.

"Mr Keating said, paraphrasing the words that President Bush had used in his acknowledgment speech, that the majesty of democracy and the will of the people was to be respected and that if the Coalition won the next election, that its legislation would be allowed through the Senate, even though earlier in the day he had described Senators as 'pansies', building upon his description yesterday of the Senate as 'unrepresentative swill'.

"The Prime Minister has recognised the strength of the Coalition's plan for Australia by acknowledging that enough people would support it and that the Labor Party, when back in opposition, would not oppose the mandate the Coalition government

had been given by the people."
