ANOTHER LABOR INITIATIVE BOMBS OUT

FREE SPEECH AND DEMOCRACY WINS: FISCHER

The Keating Government now faces the dilemma of having to raise money from the one million they forced out of work in order to pay for political advertising prior to the next Federal Election.

Federal Leader of the National Party, Tim Fischer said this today following the release of the High Court's finding that the political ad ban was invalid.

"Rather than admit that their Party had lost much of its support and consequently its revenue, they attempted to stop all other Parties from advertising and exposing the crippled state of the economy under Labor.

"I have no doubt Labor will appeal to their Union boss 'mates' for money but I doubt that anything will be forthcoming as it would take a pretty insensitive union leader to offer a reward to Keating for his management of the economy."

Mr Fischer said Australian electors will now have the opportunity to be fully informed before the Election rather than kept in the dark by a Government that has become increasingly out of touch with the electorate.

Mr Fischer added that the National Party was ready to respond to the new situation with appropriate radio and TV campaigns.
