RAIL TO GET BIG BOOST

TIM FISCHER MP AND BRPCE CROSSING TOUR HUNTER ELECTORATE.

The Hunter Valley's major employment Industries will get a huge boost from lower transport costs under Fightbackl.

Federal Leader of the National Party, Tim Fischer said this today during an extensive tour of the Hunter Electorate with National Party Endorsed Candidate, Bruce Crossing.

$250 MILLION BOOST TO RAIL

"Rail across Australia will benefit from huge savings in diesel fuel costs with the total abolition of all Diesel Fuel Excise.

"This will impact in a massive way on the operating costs of both road and rail transport.

"In the Hunter in particular, transport plays a pivotal role both in the coal mining and transport industries and also in the huge dairy and associated farming industries along the valley.

f u e l c o s t s FOR EVERYONE TO BE CUT.

"Not only will industry enjoy huge fuel savings but domestic consumers will also benefit. In fact with the total abolition of both Diesel and Petrol fuel excise it will, on today's values, be some $11.40 less to fill an average medium sized car's fuel tank.

"The impact of this will be cheaper transport to and from work, cheaper transport for the family holiday and more money to be spent, along with the benefits from PAYE Tax cuts on personal expenditure.

Mr Fischer said the Hunter Electorate will be well served by National Party Endorsed Candidate, Bruce Crossing especially as he has already proved himself as a strong advocate for country people in his role as Vice President o£ the New South Wales

Farmers Association.

"Bruce Crossing knows the pressures on business and farming and the need to cut costs to create employment. He will be a valuable member of the National Party Team in Canberra.
