A FLIGHT OF FANCY

The birds of the Northern Territory will spread their wings across an exhibition of paintings by local artist Di Skelly- Heron at the Framed Showcase Gallery in Darwin tonight.

The exhibition - to be opened by the Shadow Minister for Regional Development, External Territories and Northern Australia, Senator Grant Tambling - features striking pastel and acrylic paintings of birds.

"Mrs Skelly-Heron is best known for her prints on behalf of the Rare Species Protection Fund of the Northern Territory, established to raise funds for research into rare and endangered species.

"She is also the designer behind an exclusive range of lightweight jumpers, to be made in the Darwin Trade

Senator Tambling said the exhibition, entitled A Flight of Fancy, demonstrated Mrs Skelly-Heron's commitment to protecting and promoting birdlife.
