T im Fischer mp Federal Member for Farrer

Leader of the National Party of Australia

Shadow Minister for Energy and Resources

COALITION IS READY FOR

KEATING'S KENNEDY STYLE CAMELOT

There is now every chance Keating will be Prime Minister by Christmas, seeking to usher in a one hundred day Kennedy style Camelot blitzkrieg, but not even this will be enough.

Federal Leader of the National Party said this when speaking at Cobram on the Murray River today after officially opening the Murray Valley League's Conference.

"Keating backers have plans to use the now slightly delayed President Bush visit and the Queen's February 1992 visit to underpin a deluge of soft favourable publicity," Mr Fischer said.

"The aim is to distract the electorate even more from the agony of the recession with one million unemployed, but it will not work.

"The Coalition is ready for this, our strategy is mapped out and we will win whenever the Federal election is and regardless of whoever is leading the defeated ALP.

"As John Hewson correctly points out, people are not going to forget Hawke or Keating or even Kerin for the ALP designer

recession creating one million unemployed."

Mr Fischer said that National Party pre-selections will begin in earnest as Federal re-distribution boundaries are finalised in Queensland, South Australia and New South Wales, adding that he commended the CLP for already having endorsed Arthur Palmer for the marginal Northern Territory House of Representatives seat.
