WOOL SUPPLEMENTARY PAYMENTS SCHEME DEADLINE

EXTENDED

The M inister for Prim ary Industries and Energy, Simon Crean, announced today th at the deadline for growers to submit applications under the Wool Supplementary Payments Scheme had been extended to 14 February 1992.

Mr Crean said some growers had been unable to have their supplemenary payments' applications processed by the A ustralian Wool Realisation Commission because they were submitted after the previous deadline of 31 July 1991 which was specified in the statutory guidelines

for the scheme.

"Some other growers were not able to submit applications in time due to circumstances beyond their control.

"Apart from missing the deadline, many of these applications would have been eligible for payment and I believe th at they should receive th a t payment," he said.

All registered wool brokers and dealers are being advised of the change to the statutory guidelines. Claims will be assessed by the Commission on the same basis as those submitted before 31 July this year.
