TRANSCRIPT OF DOORSTOP, MANSFIELD TAVERN, BRISBANE 19 JUNE 1991

E & OE - PROOF ONLY

JOURNALIST: Prime Minister, anything on the waterfront?

PM: No. I have been engaged in quite a few discussions back with my office and with others and there is nothing I can say at this stage other than that 1 1m doing the most I can to try and see that we can keep the processes of waterfront reform going. I think the important thing is

that the union is committed to adhering to the agreement they've made. I believe the employers will be in that position and so I don11 want to say anything more than that other than I ' m doing the very best I can to try and keep this important process alive. Because it is not just a matter of importance for the industry itself but for the

country as a whole.

JOURNALIST: They'll be going back tomorrow will they?

PM: I would hope so and expect so.
