NEW APPOINTMENTS TO FEDERALĀ· AIRPORTS CORPORATION BOARD

The Minister for Transport and Communications, Kim Beazley, has announced the reappointment to the board of the Federal Airports Corporation, of its chairman, David Sullivan and deputy chairman, Joseph Wilding.

Announcing this today, Mr Beazley said Barrie Follows, AM, and Ian Court also had been reappointed to the board for another term.

He said the Chancellor of Bond University, Elizabeth Nosworthy, would fill a further position which had been vacant since it was created last year.

Mr Beazley said he was very pleased to welcome Miss Nosworthy to the board and was confident her specialist knowledge in banking and finance, and in corporations and securities law, would be a considerable asset.

"The FAC has operated successfully as a Government Business Enterprise developing Australia's major airports and this reflects the sound management direction given by the board," Mr Beazley said.

"It is therefore pleasing that the outgoing board members have been available for reappointment, to help ensure continuity in the FAC's operation."

To ensure continuity and to avoid board positions becoming vacant simultaneously, the terms of appointment have been staggered.

Mr Sullivan and Mr Follows have been appointed for two-year terms, Miss Nosworthy -and Mr Court for three years, and Mr Wilding for four years.

Copies of curriculum vitaes for each appointee are attached.
