JOINT RELEASE WITH JIM SNOW, MP, MEMBER FOR EDBN-MONARO

NEW ABC RADIO SERVICE FOR BOMBALA DISTRICT

People in the Bombala district south of Cooma will receive the ABC's Regional Radio service permanently from July 2.

The Federal Minister for Transport and Communications, Ralph Willis, and the Member for Eden-Monaro, Jim Snow, said the Federal Government had funded the new FM radio transmitter for the area under the Remote and Underserved Communities

Scheme (RUCS).

The service can be heard on 94.1 MHz on the FM band and will give people in the Bombala area a wider choice of ABC radio programming.

Mr Willie said RUCS involved upgrading ABC radio services to 10 communities around Australia not previously able to receive ABC programs satisfactorily.

Mr Snow said the Bombala service was the first to be provided in New South Wales under RUCS and the sixth in Australia.
