TENDERS REOPENED FOR ADELAIDE'S THIRD FM RADIO STATION

Tenders for Adelaide's third commercial FM radio station have been reopened.

The Minister for Transport and Communications, Ralph Willis, recently named SKA Broadcasters Pty Ltd as a successful tenderer for one of two new commercial FM services available under the Federal Government's National Metropolitan Radio Plan.

However, as the bid for Adelaide's third commercial FM service was below the set reserve bid, Mr Willis has reopened the third FM frequency to competition.

Three commercial AM radio stations in Adelaide are eligible to bid. Tenders close on 1 November 1989.

Mr Willis said the closing date for Sydney's commercial FM services had been extended until 11 October 1989 to accommodate an extension of television transmission on Wollongong's Channel 4.

; He said Brisbane's second commercial FM service would be available for tender in 1991.

The other recent successful bidders to convert from the AM to the FM band under the National Metropolitan Radio Plan were: 3KZ, 3AK, Melbourne; 4BK Brisbane; 6GL, 6PM, Perth. The bids, including that of SKA, totalled approximately $105 million.
