The Hon Greg Hunt MP, Federal Member for Flinders, was delighted that the number of New Apprenticeships in Flinders has increased by 216% between 1996 and 2004.

“This is a wonderful outcome for the community and I am delighted that there has been an increase in the number of people participating in the New Apprenticeship program in Flinders”, Mr Hunt said.

“In 1996, when the Coalition was elected into Government, there were just 1,020 people undertaking a New Apprenticeship in Flinders but in 2004 this figure has risen to 3,200.

“In addition, the number of people undertaking a higher Qualification Level has increased by 216% with 3,130 people completing their Certificate III and IV in 2004.

“I am delighted that young people in the electorate of Flinders are obtaining the skills they need to equip themselves for the future under the New Apprenticeships Initiative.

“Particularly, as the electorate of Flinders will have an increase in the number of skilled young people entering the workforce”, Mr Hunt said.
