Press Release Ref: 1430 Published: 17/1/2005 Title: Regional Partnerships Funding for Eden

Member for Eden-Monaro, Gary Nairn, today announced that Regional Partnerships program funding of over $45,800 has been granted to assist the Bega Valley Shire Council - Eden Foreshore Management Committee EFMC.

The Australian Government funds will be used to link the Aislings Beach pathways and would go towards purchasing materials including sand, concrete, mesh and timber for the construction of both the pathway and a boardwalk.

“This extension of the cycle/walking path at Aislings Beach will create a safe and accessible pathway in one of the most popular walking areas in Eden, benefiting the local community and the many visitors to this coastal village,” Mr Nairn said.

Parliamentary Secretary to the minister for Transport and Regional Services, John Cobb, congratulated the local community for working together to access Regional Partnerships funding.

“I would particularly like to thank the Eden Foreshore Management Committee and the South East NSW Area Consultative Committee for helping to bring this project to fruition,” Mr Cobb said.

“Regional Partnerships continues the Australian Government’s approach of working with local communities to support their ideas. There is $308 million available under Regional Partnerships from 2004-05 to 2007-08.

“Regional Partnerships will deliver benefits to communities well into the future, not only from program funding, but from the higher levels of economic activity and improved social amenity

which the program is generating.

“Communities should contact their local Area Consultative Committee* if they wish to seek funding through Regional Partnerships.”
