Tender for National Disability Recruitment Coordinator (NDRC) released today

The Minister for Workforce Participation, the Hon Dr Sharman Stone MP, today announced the release of a

Request for Tender for the provision of the National Disability Recruitment Coordinator (NDRC) Programme

until 30 June 2009.

The NDRC Programme provides a range of services including job placement, advice, brokerage and promotion to

large private sector employers to increase the employment of people with disability. Assisting employers and

increasing the awareness of the benefits of hiring job seekers with disability is an important component of the

Australian Government’s Welfare to Work reforms.

“There are over 700,000 working age Australians receiving the Disability Support Pension. The government is

committed to helping those who want to work to do so,” Dr Stone said.

“The NDRC promotes the benefits of hiring people with disability, including breaking down the stereotypes and

providing information on the range of assistance that is available. This includes, for example, providing advice

on how businesses can get assistance for equipment or modifications that a person with disability requires.”

The NDRC Programme works with a range of other government services, including a specialised group of

Australian Government employment service providers, called the Disability Employment Network, to help

employers find job seekers with disability who suit their business needs.

“It has a unique and valuable role to play in helping large private sector employers tailor their recruitment

practices to ensure they tap into people with disability to find the right person for a job,” Dr Stone said.

The NDRC tender documentation will be available from 6pm, on 10 November 2006, and can be obtained from

the AusTender website at Tenders close on 6 December 2006.
