Ethanol industry deserves further support

The Nationals Senator for NSW Sandy Macdonald has supported calls by Deputy Prime Minister John Anderson for financial encouragement through tax breaks and other concessions to help develop the ethanol industry.

“The development of ethanol has much to recommend it - a clean and green renewable energy source that assists agriculture and will bring prosperity and jobs to regional areas,” Senator Macdonald said.

“Ethanol use in fuels will provide an opportunity to purchase a renewable alternative to dwindling crude oil resources.”

“The Federal Coalition Government is in the business of working in partnership with communities, and one way this can be done is by supporting this industry.”

“To oppose the Government’s attempts to assist the development of this industry is un-Australian,” Senator Macdonald said.
