$1956 Grant for The Gap High School Memorial Garden

Friday, 18 November 2005

The Gap State High School will construct a special memorial garden with the help of a $1 956 grant under the Howard Government’s Commemorations program, Saluting Their Service.

The Member for Ryan, Michael Johnson, said the project would provide a fitting tribute to the district’s servicemen and women.

“Saluting Their Service encourages the community to remember and honour the contribution made by Australians who have served in wars, conflicts and peace operations since Federation,” Mr Johnson said.

“The grant will help to establish a memorial garden in the grounds of The Gap State High School, which will honour the memory of those Australian men and women who served their country in war. The school community will use the memorial garden, which will include a monument and plaque, on commemorative occasions such as Anzac Day and Remembrance Day.

“The Gap State High School is congratulated on its wonderful initiative with this project,” Mr Johnson said.

More information about Saluting Their Service and grant application forms are available by contacting the Ryan electorate office on (07) 3720 2599.
