MEDIA RELEASE 28th September 2005

WAYNE SWAN VISITS CHIFLEY FOR ANNUAL DINNER DANCE

Shadow Treasurer Wayne Swan was the Guest of Honour at the annual Chifley Dinner Dance held last Friday night (September 23rd) at the Mt Druitt Workers Club.

In a wide ranging speech, Mr Swan attacked the Howard Government over its inaction on petrol prices, the full sale of Telstra, its proposed extreme industrial relations changes and its failure to help the working poor.

Federal Chifley MP Roger Price said Mr Swan’s speech was well received by those in attendance.

“I think the difference between Wayne and his opposite number Peter Costello is that Wayne understands the concerns of working Australians.

“His speech on Friday night articulated those concerns while at the same time exposing the arrogance and incompetence of the Howard Government.

“This is a Government drunk on power, hopelessly out of touch and hell bent on ramming its extreme agenda through the Parliament, no matter what the cost to the Australian people”.
