Senator Judith Troeth, Senator for Victoria, today announced that the Sholem Aleichem College, Elsternwick, and the Yesodei Hatorah College, Elwood, will benefit from over $600,000 in Federal Government funding for their new building projects.

Sholem Aleichem College will use their $210,000 of Federal funding to construct and refurbish the administration building to create a second level to accommodate two general learning areas and an administration area.

Yesodei Hatorah College will use their $400,000 toward the construction of two learning areas, library, art room with associated storage, work room, withdrawal room and stair access.

The total cost of each project is approx $440,000 and $745,500 respectively.

“These new facilities will help the schools provide the best possible learning environment for students in the area,” Senator Troeth said.

“The Federal Government believes that schools are important, and these levels of funding bear that out,” Senator Troeth said.

“Between 2005 and 2008, the Federal Government will provide an estimated $33 billion in direct funding to schools and school students, showing our dedication and comitment to maximising the opportunities for young Australians,” Senator Troeth said.
