$950 in grants helps Roma veterans claim benefits

RSL Roma Sub-Branch will receive a grant of $950 from the Federal Government to help Australian veterans and war widows make claims for pensions and other benefits, Member for Maranoa, Bruce Scott announced today.

Mr Scott said the funding had been approved as part of the Government’s Building Excellence in Support and Training (BEST) program.

“Ex-service organisations play a vital role in supporting veterans, war widows and widowers through the claims application and appeals process,” Mr Scott said.

“The Federal Government recognises this important work with training and support for ESO welfare officers, pension officers and advocates through the Training Information Program (TIP).

“BEST complements the TIP program, offering funds to ensure these organisations have the resources to provide and maintain quality services to their local veteran community.”

The RSL Roma Sub-Branch will receive a grant of $950.00. This grant will provide $950 for consumables.

“The BEST program honours the Government’s commitment to make the veterans’ claims process fairer, easier to understand and more efficient,” Mr Scott said.

“This grant is part of $1.769 million in BEST funding allocated during 2003-2004 to support ex-service organisations through improved resources and training programs.”
