The Minister for Regional Services, Territories and Local Government, Senator Ian Macdonald, today announced the appointment of Mr Brian Scantlebury as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Albury-Wodonga Development Corporation.

The Corporation Board, with the assistance of McArthur Management Services, commenced a nationwide recruiting campaign in April to find a successor to the current CEO Mr Ron Dennis.

Mr Scantlebury, 54, is currently the Corporation’s Manager, Development. He is married to Cathie and has three children, the youngest of whom is currently studying for his Higher School Certificate at Xavier College, Albury.

"Mr Scantlebury joined the Corporation in 1991 with an extensive background in the management of land development projects," Senator Macdonald said.

"The Corporation has now entered a wind up phase where it will focus, as a commercial organisation, on asset management and disposal over the next several years.

"The Board is confident that Mr Scantlebury will successfully lead the Corporation through the challenges of this period.

The present Chief Executive Officer of the Albury-Wodonga Development Corporation, Mr Ron Dennis, will retire on 5 July 2000 after 10 ½ years in the position.

"On behalf of the Commonwealth Government and the Albury-Wodonga Ministerial Council I wish to formally acknowledge the contribution of the outgoing Chief Executive Officer Mr Ron Dennis whose tenure has been outstanding," Senator Macdonald said.
