Candlelight Vigils Across the Nation

The Greens have organised candle light vigils outside town halls around Australia tonight, Friday 11 April, between 6-7pm.

“The vigils will remember the thousands of innocent civilians and soldiers killed or maimed in Iraq. The vigils will also promote the Palm Sunday peace rallies being held this weekend,” Senator Brown said.

“The vigils will be a good way for people to remember the massive toll of casualties in the illegal war on Iraq.

“The vigils will be in many regional and country towns as well as major capital cities,” Senator Brown said.

· Senator Brown will be attending the vigil at Hobart Town Hall · Senator Nettle will be attending the vigil at Sydney Town Hall, · Kerrie Tucker MLA will be attending the vigil in Canberra Legislative Assembly

Locations include (at the local Town Hall unless otherwise stated): Adelaide (Rundle St Mall), Bairnsdale (Main St), Bellingen, Brisbane, Burnie, Canberra (Legislative Assembly), Collingwood, Hobart, Launceston, Marrickville, Murwillumbah (Council Chambers), Melbourne, Moreland, Moorabin, Moonee Ponds (at the Clock tower), Newcastle, Parkes, Parramatta, Picton (Old Post Office, opposite the NAB), Queanbeyan, Rockdale, St Kilda, Sydney, Toowoomba, Wagga (Civic Centre).
