VISIT TO ROYAL DARWIN HOSPITAL

5 October 2005

The Royal Darwin Hospital has become part of Australia’s front line in the War on Terror.

The dedicated doctors and staff have now been called on twice to help after the atrocities on Bali, and they have assisted scores of patients who have suffered terrible wounds.

More than 100 people were treated in Darwin after the first atrocity.

Another 23 have been treated after Saturday’s blasts.

Like all Australians, I have nothing but the utmost admiration for their dedication and professionalism after tragic events like these.

It was a privilege to visit the hospital today, and to thank the doctors, nurses and other staff for their tireless commitment.
