Mindarie Senior College helps keep ANZAC spirit alive MEDIA RELEASE Thursday, 22 September 2005

Mindarie Senior College is the state winner of this year’s Australian Government ANZAC Day Schools’ Award (secondary school category).

“The ANZAC Day Schools’ Awards provide students with the opportunity to develop new and creative ways to commemorate ANZAC Day, encouraging them to learn about the importance of Australia’s wartime heritage,” according to Member for Pearce Judi Moylan.

“I congratulate Principal Peter Holcz and the staff and students at Mindarie Senior College on this accomplishment.

“This school has some talented individuals whose enthusiasm, creativity and hard work has seen them rewarded.”

State and Territory winners receive $1000 and a commemorative plaque to display at their school.

National winners are selected from the State awardees.

Ms Moylan said that across the nation a record number of entries were received this year.

The ANZAC Day Schools’ Awards are funded through the Australian Government’s Saluting Their Service commemorations program. For further information visit www.dva.gov.au
