TIME FOR COSTELLO TO ‘FESS UP

During Question Time today, I gave the Treasurer not one, but two opportunities to rule out putting an excise on LPG. He failed to do so on both occasions.

The Treasurer’s illogical muddle on the mechanics of the substitution of petrol for ethanol as compared to switching from petrol to LPG in no way clarifies the situation.

The fact that his own Fuel Tax Inquiry recommends an excise on LPG will add to the concerns of consumers of LPG.

The Treasurer must either rule out placing an excise on LPG or ‘fess up to the real motives behind his new tax on ethanol.
