BREAK IN AT MINISTERIAL OFFICE IN OAKLEIGH

The Oakleigh office of Dr Michael Wooldridge, Minister for Health and Family Services and Member for the Federal Seat of Chisholm, was broken into last Wednesday night, 4 February.

At this stage, the break-in does not appear to have been politically motivated.

A small amount of money was taken, and some computers were tampered with. Workmen discovered the burglary when they arrived at the Oakleigh office on the Thursday morning.

No information appears to be missing, although staff are still sorting through the mess left behind by the intruders.

The Atherton Road, Oakleigh office is the Melbourne base for staff employed by Dr Wooldridge in his capacity as Minister.

No information concerning the Chisholm electorate and constituents, or election campaign resources and planning, is held in the Oakleigh office.

Dr Wooldridge said that he would strengthen security at both the Oakleigh office and at his Chisholm electorate office in Box Hill as a precaution.

The Australian Federal Police are investigating.
