IMPROVING ACCESS TO AFTER HOUR GPs IN JURIEN $100,000 over two years

Member for O’Connor, Wilson Tuckey today announced Commonwealth Government funding to improve access to after-hours care from local doctors in Jurien.

Gemini Medical Services will receive $100,000 over two years to support after-hours services in Jurien.

“I am delighted that Jurien will receive Commonwealth Government funding to support after-hours GP services,” Mr Tuckey said.

“Particularly, these supplementary grants are available to assist established after hours services to meet their marginal costs and keep them financially viable. They are aimed at general practices providing services in the after hours period, medical deputising services and cooperatives of GPs that are operating a rostered after hours clinic-based or call-out service.

“This funding is part of the Round the Clock Medicare initiative - a five year, $106.2 million national plan to help restore after-hours GP care across Australia”.

“Australia has a strong network of GPs as our first line of treatment for illness and injury. The Howard Government’s investment will ensure that people across Australia have access to high quality and convenient GP services,” Mr Tuckey said.
