GASH WELCOMES CALTEX E10 PRICE CUT BUT SAYS:

'NOW PUT IN MORE E10 BOWSERS'

Member for Gilmore Joanna Gash today welcomed the announcement by Caltex that it would cut the price of its ethanol product, E10, but urged the company to go further.

Caltex announced it had put in place arrangements for all its E10 Unleaded petrol to be sold at three cents per litre (cpl) less than regular unleaded petrol.

"At last we are seeing some movement," Mrs Gash said.

Mrs Gash urged Caltex to put E10 bowsers in its Gilmore petrol stations.

"This is about putting its money where its mouth is," Mrs Gash said.

"It is great to see Caltex has cut the price of E10 but now it has to make E10 available to more consumers."

The Australian Government has set a biofuels uptake level of 350 million litres by 2010.

"It is great to see the oil companies taking actives steps to meet their biofuels supply targets," Mrs Gash said.

"It is equally important to note, this is just one of many steps that have to be taken.

"There is, however, still a very long way to go and I will continue to lobby to see the biofuels uptake targets mandated and brought forward to 2008."
