$1000 FOR SCULPTURAL PROJECT

John Forrest, The Nationals Federal Member for Mallee today announced that the Wycheproof Community Resource Centre has been successful in obtaining a grant under the Regional Arts Victoria Quick Response Grants.

The $1,000 grant will be used to hold a workshop to begin the planning process for a community sculptural project.

Ms Ellen White of the Wycheproof Community Resource Centre advised that the community forum would be held on June 20. “We are calling for any interested members of the public to meet with us together with representatives from the Resource Centre, the Wycheproof P12 College and community based art and craft groups.”

“We will also have a Sculptor visiting us from Bendigo who will help us to run the forum,” said Ms White.

“This is a good example of the type of program suited to the Quick Response Grants. I am sure the sculpture will provide a wonderful focal point for the town and this forum will ensure that all interested parties are able to be involved,” Mr Forrest said.

The grants are available to organisations registered in Victoria for cultural development and arts initiatives in regional Victoria. The Regional Arts Fund is an initiative of the Commonwealth Government, supporting the arts in regional, rural and remote Australia.
