Nominate now for National Disability Awards 2008

Nominations for the 2008 National Disability Awards have now opened and I encourage Australians to nominate those who deserve national recognition before the closing date of 9 May 2008, Federal Member for McPherson, and Shadow Minister for Ageing Margaret May MP said today.

“These awards celebrate and acknowledge the achievements and contributions individuals with disability make to our community, as well as individuals who have contributed to the disability sector.

“People of McPherson can nominate someone they know in one of the following categories:

É Community Contribution Award for a person with disability who has made a significant contribution to their community É Young Community Contribution Award for a young person (between 12 and 25 years old) with disability who has made a significant contribution to their

community É Inclusion Award for a person who has made a significant contribution to improving the lives of people with disability É Go Getter Award for a young person (between 12 and 25 years old) who has made

a significant contribution to improving the lives of people with disability É Personal Achievement Award for a person, either with a disability or caring for someone with a disability, who has overcome adversity to achieve personal goals

“Award recipients will be announced at a gala awards ceremony in Canberra, when the Australian Government celebrates International Day of People with Disability on 3 December 2008.
