The people of Cobden and Warrnambool will soon have access to improved private health facilities with the announcement of over $250,000 in funding from the Australian Government for private health facilities in their communities.

Member for Wannon - Mr David Hawker - today announced details of the funding, which is part of the Government’s Bush Nursing, Small Community and Regional Private Hospitals Program.

Cobden and District Health Services will receive $12,000 to buy six electrically-operated beds and special pressure care mattresses.

St John of God Health Care in Warrnambool will get $240,327 to buy surgical equipment, medication decision support software and videoconferencing equipment.

“This funding will benefit these local communities and help strengthen the rural private hospital sector,” Mr. Hawker said.

“It will also ensure Cobden and Warrnambool people continue to have access to relevant and viable health services close to home.”

Mr. Hawker said the Bush Nursing, Small Community and Regional Private Hospitals Programme provided funding help to rural private health facilities to help them to better meet the needs of their local communities.

He said this ensured that rural communities retained access to quality private health services.
