Grants for Youth in Primary Industries

Groups involved with young people working in Primary Industries are encouraged to apply for Federal Government grants for projects to help youth face the challenges and opportunities in the industry as a result of a changing climate.

Federal Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey said the grants round is now open with grants of up to $50,000 available for eligible projects for young people.

“I encourage youth groups and organisations working with young people in agriculture and aquaculture to apply for this funding,” he said.

“The funding could be used for workshops, seminars, conferences or industry events and other innovative ideas.

“Changes in primary industries have been far-reaching in recent years and it is vitally important to maintain and promote the interest and participation of young people in this area.”

The grants are aimed at supporting activities aiming to • Build and share knowledge and experience • Increase access to planning tools and resources • Develop leadership and management skills • Develop pathways to increase participation in primary industries • Develop skills to contribute more effectively to government and industry decision making • Build networks between rural regional and remote Australians. Applications close 5pm Monday March 2, 2009.

For information or to apply visit http:/www.daff.gov.au/youthfund or phone Rowan’s Port Pirie office on 1300 301 742.
