I MMEDIATE RELEASE

R.A.N. SHIPS ON WAY HOME

The two Royal Australian Navy ships which have been

serving with the Comunonwe_alth-- Strategic Reserve will reach

Fremant-le_ tomorrow on their way home

They are the Daring-Class destroyer HMAS DUCHESS and

the destroyer escort HMAS DERWENT, which have been relieved by

the Daring Class-Destroyer HMAS VAMPIRE and the destroyer escort

HMAS STUART.

DUCHESS and DERWENT called at Christmas Island in the

Indian Ocean on April 5 on their way home eater six months duty

in South-East Asia.

Both will leave Fremantle on Thursday, DUCHESS calling

at Port Adelaide on April 14-15 and DERWENT at Melbourne on

April 15.

They will reach Sydney on April 18.
