The R. .N. guided missile destroyer FT"AS PERTH,

on her way home to Australia after six months war s:. •rvice

off Vietnam, laid a wreath tonight over the rrock of the

World War II cruiser, I AS PERTH.

The first P-FAS PERTH was sank in action with a

Japanese task force on Pebruary 28, 1942, near the entrance

to Sunda Strait.

PERTH , and the only other Allied ship in the action,

USS HOUSTON, sek five Japanese ships and damaged seven

others .

The new Hi4TAS P7 -., -,,TH carries in a place of ho n or

on board a bridge voice pipe which was recovered from the

wreck by a.n Adelaide diver, Mr. David B rchell, in 1967.

PERTH passed through Sunda Strait at 9 p.m.

^. on her way to her namesake 'city of Perth, VIA.

She will arrive in Fremantle on Saturday (12/4) and in Sydney

on April 21,
