IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BRISBANE LEAVES THURSDAY FOR VIETNAM SERVICE

The guided missile destroyer HMAS BRISBA NE will leave Sydney at 9 a.m. on Thursday (March 20) for service in Vietnam.

BRISBANE will serve with the US 7th Fleet and will re-place HMAS PERTH which has been in Vietnam since September.

PERTH will han d over to BRISBANE in Subic Bay, Phillipines, before returning to Australia.

Under the command of Captain A.A. Willis, BRISBANE will be making her first trip to the Vietnam theatre. Australia's

third guided missile destroyer, BRISBANE arrived on her delivery

voyage from the US in October.

Her two sister ships, HOBART and PERTH have been alter-nating in service in the Vietnam area, with the 7th Fleet since March, 1967.
