SURV IIY TEAM IN 3 ] W PATROL BOAT

The fifth patrol boat for service in the Papua-New

Guinea Division of the RAN, HbLkS :;IADANG, will leave Sydney on

Monday to join the PNG Patrol Boat Squadron.

T- E1 , 1S LLOANG, under the command of Lt. Cdr, T. I. Jones,

will carry a seven-man team of Navy and Army surveyors which has

been formed to survey the coastline of th e Territory.

The team is directed by the BAR HydroSrapher and Lt.

Cdr. Jones will be the officer in charge in the field.

An officer of the Territories Department of District

Administration will accompany the team.

MADA NG -tilh.ich has been allocated as the support vessel

for the team is expected to reach Manus Island, where it will be

based with the other four patrol boats, about March 15.

Surveying will begin on the north coast of Papua-New

Guinea a week later.
