PAPUA AND NEW GUINEA'S APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR IN CANBERRA

Papua and New Guinea's Apprentice• of the Year,

Mr. Alexius Tsiroats (23), will call on the Minister for

External Territories, Mr. C.E. Barnes, at Parliament

House at 11.30 tomorrow morning.

Alexius will also visit the ACT Apprenticeship

Board, the Australian National University, Canberra

Technical College and the Department of Works.

Alexius will be in Canberra from tomorrow

until Sunday as part of his prize - a five-week tour of

Australia. After Canberra he will visit Brisbane from

1-6 November.

Alexius is an apprentice diesel mechanic with

the P.N.G. Department of Public Works in Port Moresby.

He was born at Hanahan Village, Buka Island,

Bougainville and was educated at Marist Brothers School,

Kieta, where he passed his Intermediate Certificate.

Alexius trained in the Eastern, Western and

Southern Highlands and the Chimbu districts of the

Territory before being transferred to Port Moresby.

So far on his Australian tour Alexius has

visited Sydney and Melbourne.
