SThT'EADT BY MINISTER FOR CIVIL AVlTION. t,H. R.W. SWA TZ

The public car park at Launceston airport is to

be extended to accommodate 340 vehicles at a cost of $17,500. This was announced today by the Minister for Civil aviation Mr, R.W. Swartz.

Mr. Swartz said that the existing 256-vehicle

car park was built when the terminal opened in 1966.

Since then the volume of traffic had increased to such an extent that an increase in parking capacity was needed urgently.

Mr, Swartz adcaed that it was also proposed to install parking control gates at the same time. Motorists using the car park would pay a 10 cent parking fee at the exit. The entrance would be controlled by a free entry

automatic boom gate.

Mr. Swartz said the t simil-r automatic parking equipment would be installed at Hobart.
