Options Community Enterprises

The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) was informed yesterday that Options Community Enterprises Ltd (Options), a sub-contractor to the Job Futures network of community based employment service providers, has gone into voluntary administration.

DEWR has a contractual relationship for Job Network services with Job Futures, but not Options. As such, this is a matter between Job Futures and their own sub-contractor. However, the Government supports Job Futures rapid response to the situation and supports their efforts to make alternative service arrangements for jobseekers.

As it is a matter between Job Futures and a sub-contractor, which is under administration, it is inappropriate for the Minister or an agent of the Commonwealth to speculate on the process. However, the Commonwealth understands that the sub-contractor holds a number of contracts for programmes at both Commonwealth and State level and that there are a number of issues relating to internal management. Job Futures has undertaken to keep DEWR fully informed.

DEWR will provide whatever assistance it reasonably can to Job Futures during this difficult time and will consider any proposals that Job Futures might offer in the way of replacement providers - subject to appropriate probity and purchasing considerations.

Questions should be directed to the CEO of Job Futures, Mr Robert Tickner.
